Let’s geek out on biomechanics!
Have you ever wondered why some Pilates exercises are easier with more weight versus less? Or why box step ups require more hamstring strength than traditional squats? Being able to answer both of these questions requires a sound understanding of biomechanics. Biomechanics is the interdisciplinary field of exercise physiology and mechanical engineering. While that may sound daunting, I promise we’re going to make this fun and help you take your teaching to the next level.
We’ll cover the basics of biomechanics so that you can leverage this information in teaching. With a solid biomechanics understanding you can work with any body, any time, and truly tailor this work to all of your clients so that they meet their goals. This course will give you everything you need in order to be able to analyze, cue, and adapt movement effectively, safely, and creatively.
The MDL Geek Out: Applied Biomechanics course is a two-part course composed of a 3 hour lecture followed up by a 2 hour movement class. Class will be taught LIVE, via Zoom, Saturday, Dec 20th from 10 AM - 1 PM for the lecture and 2 - 4 PM Mountain Time for the movement class. Can’t make the live class? Or can only join us for half the day? No problem! The recording will be available for everyone who’s registered for the course.

Let’s geek out on the science of motion!
This 3-hour lecture unpacks the neuroscience and skeletal muscle physiology behind how we generate movement and why understanding both changes everything about how we teach. From the premotor cortex to muscle contractions, we’ll cover it all. Designed for movement professionals, clinicians, and curious movement geeks who want to take their understanding of movement science beyond reps and choreography.

Let’s geek out on pregnancy & postpartum!
Few experiences in life, if anything, come close to the amount of changes that occur during pregnancy and postpartum - yet so many of our movement trainings fail to adequately discuss this astonishing time in one’s life. In this two-part, MDL Geek Out, we’ll first discuss physiological and biomechanical changes of pregnancy and postpartum in a 3 hour lecture. We’ll then apply all that we learned in the lecture section in a 2 hour movement class covering the best motions to support pregnant and postpartum clients through this dynamic time. Designed for movement professionals, clinicians, and curious movement geeks who want to blend evidence-based knowledge with embodied practice.
